Issue 773 – Verse of the Week

October 15th – October 21st, 2026

VERSE OF THE WEEK

They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.  – 2 Peter 2:19

Contend for the Faith

The apostle Peter was concerned about false teachers and false prophets presenting themselves as truth-tellers who were infiltrating the early church. In his letter, Jude also wrote that they had “crept in unnoticed.” In today’s world, corruption appears so often – in news stories and on social media – that some have accepted it as normal. “For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ“ (Jude 4). What is his solution? Contend for the faith (verse 3). God calls you to be intentional and committed through this spiritual warfare. As the Amplified Bible states, “Fight strenuously for the defense of the faith.” As you do, have confidence that He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).
